After members raised concerns with MTA NSW on the definition of market value for the purposes of stamp duty on the sale of used vehicles, MTA NSW entered discussions with Transport for NSW and Revenue NSW to provide clarity for the industry.

MTA NSW has acquired Career Options Australia Pty Ltd, trading as MyTradeStart, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Auburn. This strategic acquisition enhances training options for apprentices and employers in the automotive sector, addressing the industry's chronic skills shortage.

The Motor Traders’ Association of NSW, MTAA and other major automotive industry associations, met yesterday with representatives from the Federal Government to discuss the impacts of the Government’s decision to end the ‘Temporary Full Expensing Measure’ as of 30 June 2023.

Tonight, the Federal Government has handed down a budget with a range of measures that could have positive implications for the automotive industry. The intent of these measures appear positive, however, more detail is needed to understand whether they will meet the specific needs of our industry.

In accordance with Rule 23(2a) of the Rules of the Motor Traders’ Association of New South Wales (the Association) the President has directed the Chief Executive Officer to convene a Special General Meeting of the Association.

MTA NSW has recently been informed of some concerns raised by Motor Dealers including some other states about the Outstanding Recall feature that was extended on PPSR search other than the original Takata Air Bag recall. Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) informed that participating Motor Dealers (MD) enrolled and using the PPSR were notified in mid-January 2023 that additionally when conducting a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) search on the Personal Property Security Register (PPSR). That the additional feature would allow for a person who conducted a PPSR search to also be informed if that vehicle has an outstanding manufacturers recall.
