From NSW to Lyon - MTA Training Graduate Showcases Skills at WorldSkills International 2024
We are proud to celebrate the achievements of Kynan Bonanno, a qualified automotive spray painter who trained with us and represented Australia at the 47th WorldSkills competition in Lyon, France. Competing in the highly demanding Car Painting category, Kynan’s exceptional skills earned him a strong score of 680 in a field of 23 of the world’s top automotive refinishers.
WorldSkills is a global platform where young professionals showcase their skills under intense competition conditions, and the Car Painting category is no exception. Japan’s Yuto Hoshino took the gold medal, but Kynan’s placement among the best in the world reflects the quality of his training and preparation.
Kynan’s journey to the world stage began with his outstanding performance at the WorldSkills National Championships in Melbourne, where he secured first place regionally and fourth place nationally in the Automotive Refinishing category. Having completed his training with us, we continued to support Kynan’s development and sponsored his participation in this Lyon competition, alongside providing additional training to prepare.
“Kynan’s participation in WorldSkills Lyon 2024 is a testament to the strength of the training he received at MTA NSW,” said our CEO Stavros Yallouridis. “His achievements highlight the importance of investing in skill development to ensure Australia remains competitive on the global stage. We are incredibly proud to have supported him on this journey.”
MTA NSW remains committed to supporting the next generation of automotive professionals, and planning is already underway for the upcoming MTA NSW Regional WorldSkills competition. This event will offer a platform for our apprentices to showcase their abilities, with the top performers advancing to the national level. Our goal is to identify and nurture future talent who, like Kynan, could one day represent Australia on the international stage.
