What can you do to prepare for the 2025 Minimum Wage Increase

The Fair Work Commision has released its Annual Wage Review, confirming increases to the National Minimum Wage and Award rates. These changes take effect from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2025.

We know this creates pressure for employers to get it right, that’s why we’re here to help.

What’s next?

  • Our Employment Relations team is finalising the 2025 Wage Guide, which will include updated award and junior rates, and allowances relevant to your business.
  • The Wage Guide will be sent to all members on or around the 24th of June 2025.

How can you prepare for the upcoming changes?

  • Upgrade your payroll software and checking employee classifications.
  • Review and update employment contracts in relation to award minimums.
  • Don’t apply the new rates just yet. Wait until the first full pay period after 1 July.
  • Keep an eye on your inbox for the MTA NSW Wage Guide and supporting tools.
  • Complete the self-audit checklist to help you stay compliant and avoid underpayment issues.
