MTA NSW and MTAA describe strengthened regulations announced today by the Commonwealth Government a game changer alongside PM Scott Morrison

The election for the Governing Council of the Motor Traders’ Association of NSW (MTA NSW) is to be held early in 2021. Nominations for Governing Councillor positions and the role of Secretary are scheduled to open on 19 February 2021.

Members will be aware that commencing at midnight on Sunday 3rd January, 2021 a new Public Health Order came into effect surrounding the wearing of “face coverings” in certain premises. Whilst the news reports concentrated on hospitality venues inclusive of shopping centers, hairdressing salons and tanning salons, members should be aware that the Public Health Order covers many more venues and in our view will apply to many of our members.

Commencing on the 1st January, 2021 the Retail and Other commercial Leases (COVID-19) Regulation (No 3) 2020 came into operation. Members will be aware that since April 2020 tenants that have qualified for receipt of monies under the JobKeeper scheme have been able to negotiate a reduction in their rental payments to landlords consistent with the reduction in turnover experienced by the tenant’s business during the pandemic.

The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has issued new guidelines to help operators of underground petroleum storage systems minimise the potential for fuel leaks.

Schedule I of the Clerks Award has been extended to 30 June 2021. There have also been significant changes made to Schedule I which are outlined below and take effect from the first full pay period on or after 22 December 2020.
